The Brief

Bespoke Life was a Metro Detroit concierge service built on private access: dining, style, and cultural life, curated for clients who expect more than a reservation. It needed an identity that signaled membership without signaling excess.

The tension was regional. Most luxury service branding borrows a vocabulary that has nothing to do with Detroit: script, marble, gold leaf. That vocabulary is available to anyone. I wanted a system that earned its restraint from the city it operated in.

The Approach

The monogram came out of a sketchbook, dozens of B-forms, Deco fills, seals, and ligatures before the structure resolved into a stacked BSPK inside a square. The frame is closed on three corners and broken at one, the bottom-right. The closed frame is the practice itself: reserved, invitation-only, not open to everyone. The single break is the way in, the one opening for the people the world is meant for. The period after PK is a full stop, not decoration.

That system went into market in 2025 across a website and applied print. A year later the business decided to rebrand, and I produced three directions, a dark members-only navy, a warm editorial linen, and a Detroit-native palette of slate, tobacco, and brick, for the client to select from before I reapplied the chosen system across every surface. Operations were shelved before a direction was chosen.

The System

The identity that shipped ran on a warm linen ground with deep navy type: serif display for voice, sans for information, gold and brown as rules and edges rather than surfaces.

The invitation is where it was tested hardest. It carries five levels of typographic hierarchy inside a Deco corner frame, and it had to hold a partner organization's full-color logo without either mark being diminished. The monogram works standalone, in one color, and at small scale.

Original brand system produced 2025. Rebrand directions presented 2026; operational rollout shelved before selection.
